Assistant Guest House Manager
This is an exciting time to be joining the team at the Bar Convent Living Heritage Centre, where we welcome over 50,000 visitors a year. As the oldest living convent in the United Kingdom, The Bar Convent Living Heritage Centre incorporates a refurbished and upgraded Guest House with 22 en-suite rooms. The Guest House is ideally situated, close to both the railway station and the city centre, proving popular with guests.
To meet this demand, we seek to appoint an Assistant Guest House Manager. The postholder will support the Office Manager in the day-to-day running of The Bar Convent Guest House and takes delegated responsibility when the Office Manager is off site or on annual leave. This is a hands-on role combining team supervision, guest service and operational responsibility.
Sundays are worked independently, with reception duties alongside management responsibilities. The additional half day is spent during the week with the Office Manager for handover, planning, training and review, including regular room assessments covering maintenance, cleaning and upgrades. The role also develops skills in rate management, occupancy and the commercial operation of a small accommodation business.
