EVENT
York Unlocked
Brand new research and interpretation will give insight into how the house was cleverly designed to be used as the first school for girls in the north of England, and to hide the first illegal convent since Henry VIII ordered them all closed.
Discover the history of the building’s architecture and changing footprint over the centuries, the people who masterminded the changes, the prominent designers involved and the great lengths people had to go to in order to keep some of those changes a secret.
10am to 4pm; free admission to the building (charge for exhibition entry). No booking required.
Free Guided Tours are available at 10am, 11.30am & 2pm. Please contact reception@barconvent.co.uk to book.
